Fire Alarm Procedures

Please carefully read these instructions as part of our campus emergency preparedness plan.
The following are the procedures to follow when the fire alarms sound.
  1. In an orderly fashion, exit the building using the nearest exit to the outside. Do not pause to gather or locate your personal belongings.
  2. Several buildings have multiple exits. Make sure you are familiar with every exit in case your nearest exit is blocked. For example, Sayers has a main exit, and each room has a fire exit. If you are in Sayers, you should use the fire exit from your classroom first and the main exit or fire exit from another classroom second. Remember that masks are mandatory, and you should practice social distancing as much as possible.
  3. Once you have cleared the building, proceed to the following rally points (remember to wear a mask and maintain social distancing):
    • 7th & 8th – Pavilion
    • 9th & 10th – Grassy area in front of Blue Dorm between the gym and Gables
    • 11th & 12th – Grassy area between Yellow Dorm and Main
  4. Faculty members are assigned to each rally point and will be taking an emergency role in Boardingware to account for all students.
  5. The Facilities team will investigate the root cause of the alarm and notify Faculty members if it is safe to return to the buildings or with next steps.
