Student Life

Campus Dining

Did we mention cookie break?

At 10:15 a.m. and 8:15 p.m., our students are treated to a special snack. It's a long-held TJ tradition and provides a well-deserved break during the school day.
We know how important good food is to a great student life experience, and we also recognize that having inclusive menu options is key to strengthening our community of global and diverse backgrounds. Our day and boarding students partake in a wide-ranging dining menu each week provided by our food service partner,  FLIK Independent School Dining, who is focused on inclusive menus with locally and sustainably sourced ingredients.

When it comes to menu creation, FLIK places high importance on student input offering many ways for students to provide input after each and every meal. Our chef manager will create all of our menus allowing for a large amount of customization and input from our community.

FLIK also believes that offering fresh, local ingredients provides the best option for optimal nutrition. Through every aspect of their program from purchasing to designing menus that limit waste, sustainability isn't an afterthought, rather the focal point on how to build and change their services. Some of their practices include:
  • Buy Local
  • Imperfectly Delicious Produce
  • Sustainable Seafood
  • Green Restaurant Association Certification
  • Carbon Footprint
  • Waste Not
  • Stop Food Waste
  • Renewable packaging solutions
  • Recycling programs
  • . . .and more!
