Kathy Gilsinan '02 publishes book - The Helpers: Profiles From The Front Lines of the Pandemic

Kathy is currently working as a midwest correspondent for Politico. She has spent the past two years working on her book called The Helpers: Profiles From The Front Lines of the Pandemic, which focuses on eight individuals who took great risks to help their communities.

In Kathy's words:
"The Helpers is an unusual pandemic book in that it focuses, not on America’s political and institutional failures, but on the individuals who stepped up to get their families, their communities, our entire country, through the crisis. These are real people: the paramedic who drove across the country to help in New York’s worst moments; the ICU nurse who risked her own health to be there for the very sickest; the young vaccine developer at Moderna who convinced her bosses to bet her then-struggling company’s future on a Covid vaccine before almost anyone knew what Covid was; the CEO who partnered his small ventilator company with GM in a race for more life-saving machines; the chef and high-school teacher in Louisville, Kentucky who opened a community kitchen as waves of layoffs, and upheal over the police shootings of Breonna Taylor and her fellow chef David McAtee, hit her town.
