Head of School Transition

Updates from the Head Transition Committee
November 9, 2022

Dear Thomas Jefferson School (TJ) Community:
I am happy to announce that at a special meeting of the Board of Trustees, the HTC recommended and the Board approved the appointment of Jane Ballard Roth as TJ’s sixth Head of School (HoS).  Please click here to see the Board President’s letter announcing this decision.
Ms. Roth was the unanimous choice of the Committee.  Through the entire search process, from agreeing to be the Interim Head of School to most representing the qualities that the TJ Community wanted in its next HoS, to her deeply personal and insightful candidate statements about the state of TJ and what TJ means to her, and to her engaging interview, Ms. Roth outdistanced a quality group of candidates that included an Assistant HoS and a Director of Admissions from an East Coast and Midwest boarding school, respectively.
The work of the HTC is not quite finished.  In the coming weeks, we will be supporting the HoS transition including hosting various community events and helping to cement the relationship between the Board and the new Head of School.  This webpage will remain active with updates as needed.
On behalf of the HTC members, thank you for your interest and participation in this important process.  Congratulations to Ms. Roth and her family!
