Financial Aid

At Thomas Jefferson School, we recognize that choosing an independent school is a significant decision for families - both academically and financially. Nearly 30 percent of our student body receives some level of financial assistance. We are committed to creating a diverse academic environment for our students, and our financial aid program allows us to assist families who may not be able to pay the full cost of tuition. 

Financial Aid Application Deadline
All applications for financial aid for the 2021-22 school year must be received by January 12, 2021. 

Financial Aid Decision Date
Returning Families: January 31, 2020
New Families: March 12, 2020

Financial Aid Application Process

  1. Complete the Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) through the Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) system.
    1. SSS will begin accepting applications for the 2021-22 school year in early October 2020.
    2. Thomas Jefferson School's school code for the application is 7666.
    3. The fee of $55 is nonrefundable. Once your PFS is submitted, it cannot be withdrawn from the SSS system.

  2. Mail a photocopy of your current federal tax return (including all schedules and a copy of the 1040 form) directly to Thomas Jefferson School, attn: Mr. Dale Bording.
    1. If you do not have your current tax return completed at the time of the application deadline, you can submit the application based on the previous tax season. Current tax returns should be submitted upon completion.
    2. U.S. Federal tax information is required to be considered for financial aid.

The fees listed above do not include travel expenses, weekly allowances, Advanced Placement examinations, SAT or ACT examinations, and college application fees.
