Homestay Program

At Thomas Jefferson, we understand that our seven-day boarding students often would like to have a place to go on weekends where they can get away from campus for a while. The homestay program was started to meet that need.

We ask local parents and friends of the school to volunteer as hosts for our seven-day boarders, to spend time with them on weekends, keep in touch with them throughout the year, and be an all-around extra family of support. Students often spend weekends at their host family's home, and the "adoptive" parents sometimes bring cookies and other treats to their students.

The pairing of host families with students is carefully considered by the Director of Residential Life. We have found this program to be a great success, and both the students and parents really enjoy getting to spend time with one another.
