Things To Do in St. Louis
Students can take advantage of the local attractions and entertainment offerings on their own (usually during the weekends when the school driver can provide transportation), or they can sign up to attend one of the activities organized by TJ's Student Activities Committee.
This group of current students, faculty, and parents selects events that the whole school attends (like the trip to the Art Museum, mentioned below) and optional events (like a baseball game, canoe trip, or live theatrical performance) that students can sign up for if interested.
Sometimes students and teachers attend local events (like the annual
Greek festival in the fall and the Thai festival in the spring);
outings like these are announced at our all-school assemblies, and
transportation is arranged as needed.
Live music :

Shopping:
St. Louis Union Station was once the largest and busiest railroad terminal in the world. It was designed by architect Theodore Link in 1894 and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1976. In 1985 Union Station reopened after a massive restoration; it now contains a hotel, shops, restaurants and a lake ... all under one roof. TJ students can visit Union Station during daytime hours.
The U-City Loop is the area of town closest to Washington University. This stretch of Delmar Avenue is lined with specialty shops, vintage clothing stores, and great restaurants. Check out Vintage Vinyl, which sells new and used CDs and albums.
The St. Louis Galleria, one of the largest malls in the area, is 15 minutes from TJ. It also contains a movie theater.
Crestwood Mall and the West County Mall are the closest shopping centers to TJ. Crestwood also has a movie theater, and it's right across the street from Best Buy and a major grocery store.
Live theatre:
Each student has a season ticket to the Saint Louis Repertory Theatre. Six Fridays throughout the year, the whole school attends these performances.
The Fox Theatre, located in the city, is the local venue for Broadway shows, as well as many concerts.
The Edison Theatre, located at Washington University, always has an eclectic season: everything from drama, to dance, to a cappella singing, to Shakespeare.
The Saint Louis Shakespeare Company has an "18-year tradition staging the classics with top local talent in the intimate and historic Grandel Theatre." Their website also has GREAT St. Louis theatre links.

It is the nation's tallest memorial and was constructed between 1961 and 1965.
