Admissions We're glad you want to learn about applying to Thomas Jefferson School. Actually, it's easier than applying to most other top prep schools. (If you are an international applicant whose native language is not English, please click here instead.) As your very next move, you should request copies of our catalog and application materials. You can fill out a quick request form here online, and you can always get in touch with us by e-mailing admissions@tjs.org or by phoning 314-843-4151. Please feel free to give us a call if you have questions to discuss; Ms. De Jesus or Mrs. Roth will be glad to talk with you or your parents. Next steps: 1. Send in the application forms, along with the $40 application fee. There are three ways you can acquire and fill out your application: 2. Schedule a day to visit Thomas Jefferson. Visiting the campus is an essential part of the application process. You will attend morning classes with a student host, join us for lunch, and have an interview with a member of the admissions office. You may also take our entrance exam (read below). Click here for a directions to the school. 3. Take entrance tests. You can either take our two-hour battery of tests on the afternoon of the day you visit campus, or you can submit your SSAT or ISEE results if you are applying to more than one school. There is no charge for taking our in-house entrance test. 4. Have an interview. Again, this normally happens the day you visit, but if you live very far away and cannot visit, then we may talk with you over the phone. 5. See that we get your transcript. It should come directly from your school and should include your current grades as well as your grades for at least the previous year. 6. See that we get a teacher recommendation. This should come from a current teacher (preferably your math or English teacher) or school counselor who knows you well. You are free to submit more than one recommendation. Usually these are written, but sometimes they are verbal. We look forward to working with you and your family. If you have any questions about the admissions process, please contact us: Admissions Office |
